Welcome to the AANWC, a new place fully dedicated to friendship and fun on the Napoleonic battleground games.
As any club on the Internet, and especially when it comes to play by email, we have created rules to which every new member must agree with and comply. This is to ensure a smooth running and avoid every possible misunderstanding between players.
Before applying for your membership, please make sure you have been through this set of rules. If you agree with them, then you are just seconds away from sleepless nights.
I New Members.
Unless you have already been engaged in other play by email clubs on Napoleonic battleground games, you may be first considered as a trainee. If you want, you will be assigned a "Godfather" who will be in charge with guiding you (how to use the website…) and training you so that you are given all the tools to face a fellow human player. As a matter of fact, you would find it very hard as we all did if you were to face an opponent while having only played against the computer before.
This training period will include a short scenario game where your "godfather" may advise you on all the strategic and technical aspects of the game to ease your progress and development.
Once the scenario is completed and once your "Godfather" assesses you are ready to play against other players, then you will be considered part of the Army. You will be free to challenge anybody and to participate in all the activities you wish.
II Commitment to the club.
Once you are a full member, you will be asked to follow a few simple rules. These are very basic but absolutely essential to maintain the high spirit in which we want this place to remain.
We will not be looking for full detailed reports. However, you will have to have at least 1 running game.
Please note that if you cannot have a great pace in your game, you just have to state it to your opponent or when you register. Many of our members do not necessarily have time to play every day either so do not worry about it.
You are welcome to participate in the development of the club. Every new idea will be fully considered and welcome to help us make this place even more attractive and pleasant to all members. We will debate these ideas openly and with a very open-mind so do not hesitate to come forward.
III Behaviour.
We have decided to implement rules to avoid any possible problem in the future.
The club will simply not tolerate misbehaviour.
By misbehaviour, we mean:
IV Procedure for misbehaviour.
In the event of alleged misbehaviour from one member, we have decided to implement a procedure of punishment.
The plaintiff is required to report the case to Jean-Marie Barbier. This report should include the name of the alleged cheater, the name of game and scenario, and the reasons why the plaintiff thinks the opponent has been cheating.
Jean-Marie will then randomly pick up a member to be the legal "judge" on the matter. This judge will contact the defendant who will forward his defense.
In the meantime, Jean-Marie will randomly pick up 2 members to make the jury. These members must be different from one case to another. These members must not at any point, know the name of the parties, to avoid unbiased judgments.
Every person implied in this process is required to keep it absolutely secret. If any other member was to hear about this issue, the jury will be dismissed and the parties involved immediately excluded from the club.
The jury will be asked to vote either for a sanction or dismissal, bearing in mind that each member has one vote.
If this is the first alleged cheating, the member will be excluded for 2 weeks.
If this is the second alleged offense, he will be excluded and his records will be erased.
The same sanctions will be taken against any member who disclose the name of the players involved or speak openly about the case.
Please note that in extreme cases, the jury can decide to expel a member immediately.
The same rules will be applied for misbehaviour.but the punishment is more progressive:
As per cheating, the jury may decide to expel immediately the member.
Please note that we will not accept repeated accusations of cheating since it is very easy to accuse anybody. You must have very strong basis on which to base your accusations.
V Rules on the Multiplayer games/Excel games.
These rules are set up by the appointed judge for the game.
VI Who is in charge with what?
If you have any problem, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Well, you are now ready to enter the AANWC. If you have any question or any problem, we will be pleased to help you. Since everybody is here to enjoy themselves, I hope you will join us in the very same spirit. Maybe we will meet on the battlefield soon. In the meantime, I wish you all the best.
